We were supposed to leave Saba via airplane, but a storm rolled in, causing all flights to be cancelled. Another student was quick to call the captain of the Dawn II (the "ferry") to charter a trip for 20 of us stranded students. The Dawn II is an old fishing boat with a passenger area down below. We left after sunset for very rough waters. Luca & Ashley were down below, where the swells were raising people inches (!!) off their seat and then slamming the people back down. MANY people got sick, but Luca & Ashley slept (because Ashley wedged herself across the seat so they weren't launched airborne). All the while, Zach and others were enjoying a few Heineken and getting drenched on the back of the boat. After the 2.5 hour ride, we finally made it to our hotel on St Maarten in time to gobble a few bites of food and get a few hours of sleep before heading to the barely open airport, where we literally had to wait for the customs agents to arrive to work.
